Fine line and ornamental tattooing uses thin, controlled line work and symmetry to follow the body rather than sit on top of it — botanicals, filigree, sternum and spine pieces. The process
Consultation
We talk through the idea, references, placement and size — in English or Spanish. You leave knowing the session length and the price.
Design
I draw your piece custom for your body. You see the drawing before the session and we adjust until it is right.
Session
Half day or full day at Wooden Heart Tattoo. Clean setup, calm pace, breaks whenever you need them.
Aftercare
You go home with written aftercare and my number. I check in while it heals and touch up if the piece needs it.
Questions
Do fine line tattoos fade faster?
They soften faster than bold work — a thin line simply holds less ink. Done at the right depth, spaced correctly and kept out of direct sun, a fine line piece stays clean for years.
I build a little breathing room between lines so the design does not close up as it settles.
What placements work best for ornamental pieces?
Ornamental work follows the body: sternum, spine, ribs, the outside of the forearm, the back of the shoulder. Those planes are stable and let a symmetrical design sit true.
I avoid hands, fingers and feet for fine detail — they blur.
Can fine line work include color?
Yes, in small deliberate amounts. A single red accent or a soft wash in a botanical piece reads far stronger against black line work than a fully colored design, so I keep the palette to one or two notes.
